EMCO VT 160 is a representative of the junior series of vertical lathes manufactured by EMCO. Its configuration includes highly dynamic drives and a powerful main spindle. The machine is equipped with integrated automated symbols for workpiece loading and parts unloading. Due to that, a high level of manufacturing capacity is guaranteed and the times of auxiliary operations is reduced to a minimum. For example, the automatic workpiece changing cycle takes 5,5 s (“chips-chips”).

EMCO VT 160 is a representative of the junior series of vertical lathes manufactured by EMCO. Its configuration includes highly dynamic drives and a powerful main spindle. The machine is equipped with integrated automated symbols for workpiece loading and parts unloading. Due to that, a high level of manufacturing capacity is guaranteed and the times of auxiliary operations is reduced to a minimum. For example, the automatic workpiece changing cycle takes 5,5 s (“chips-chips”).

VT 160 lathe can be equipped with a conveyor of different design: oval, sinuous of cross-sinuous. Automated workpiece loading and part unloading system allows for ease and simplicity. Any type of conveying systems are easily adaptable to the basic machine, thereby the adaptation does not require interference with the machine structure. The parts are loaded onto the conveyor and unloaded from it by means of the main spindle due to the system of Pick-up-Concept.

The machining area of VT 160 vertical lathe is convenient for maintenance and adjustment. It was selected for optimum access to the clamping devices and the tool clamping device.

The tooling of the lathe consists of 2 independent system:

  • a turret;
  • a multi-functional plate.

The head envisages 12 tool stations for live or stationary tools. In each of the 12 tool positions, tool holders are inserted with tools for turning, drilling or milling operations.

The multi-functional plate is a stationary holder with fastening bores for installation of additional stationary tools which often feature excessive dimensions.

The main turning spindle of VT 160 lathe features high power for high-torque operation. The spindle assembly features thermally stabilized structure for high accuracy of workpiece machining.

The CNC system of VT 160 lathe ensures simplicity and convenience of programming and control by means of Sinumerik 828D up-to-date control system. It includes dialogue programming functions (Shopturn) and possibility of control of Sinamics digital drives.

In the lathe operation, a chain chips conveyor is utilized, with an integrated coolant supply. Its operation ensures complete separation of chips from the coolant.

The design of VT 160 vertical lathe presumes a frame of compact independent structure with little floorspace demand — about 8,5 sq. m. The installation of the equipment in Customer’s premises is fast and incurs no major technical problems.
